Northern Idaho deserves honerable mention. I live in Texas, politics aside I love Texas, but I think I’d be much happier living in either the Rockies or the Pacific Northwest.
It is interesting that Indiana almost always has a city in the 'Best Cities to…" Live, Retire, etc. yet nobody has mentioned it.
With that said I’ll probably move from Indiana to either Charlotte NC, or Hilton Head SC once the kids are gone.

Pretty much anywhere west of the Rockies, except Alaska…too cold. Oh, and also Vermont or possibly western Massachusetts. Guess that’s more than five…

California

NY/NJ area
I haven’t been to Hawaii or Alaska, so can’t evaluate those places. Virginia / North Carolina would just miss the list.
