It seems that every time I clean my cats litter box, she comes around not more than five minutes afterwards and must use it. This happens every stinking time I clean it!
Does any body elses cat do the same?
Get used to it,laserkitty. Mine do the same thing.Also…since I have TWO boxes, I’ve noticed that they use one exclusively for pee and the other just for poop.

Sure. I think they like a nice clean box. Either that, or they want to get their scent in the new litter. I don’t think I’ve ever had fresh litter last longer than a few minutes, either. Usually somebody’s used the first box by the time I finish cleaning the second one. It isn’t really a problem for me. The litter’s there to be pooped in, and I’ll be cleaning it again soon enough.
Mine too. Just a little wee on fresh litter so that order is maintained in the universe.
It doesn’t bother me that she does it, I just think it’s pretty fascinating. I’ll wait until I see her just use it, then I’ll empty it and clean it…it’ll take all of 10 minutes at the most, and she’ll come use it again as soon as I’m done.
Just think it’s pretty darn funny more than anything.
My cat (RIP) did it all the time. At first I thought it was just to make me mad…nah! Just re-marking their place I guess.
Mine cats do the same…
…but our male cat is a bit…odd…if he sees even the smallest amount of litter on the floor next to the box…he will pee on them instead of IN the box…
Have to always watch for that…

I have 4 cats, and 1 (Charlie) is the designated First User of the clean litter box. We have 6 litter boxes that get cleaned weekly on a rotating basis, and as soon as the box is dumped & refilled, there he, is in all his glory, initiating the new litter. The other 3 couldn’t care less, but still stand around and watch him. As soon as he’s done, off they troop to resume whatever little kitty devilry (sp) they’ve been engaging in prior to the Great Moment.
It’s really quite peculiar, but they’ve done it for years. And Charlie’s not even the Alpha Male. This just seems to be his “job” and he takes it seriously.
As for the using 1 box for #1 & the other for #2, haven’t had that experience. Cat’s are truly weird little people in fur coats, that’s for sure!

Kwy–I read your post and smiled.Reminds me of what Buttercup did once.I was cleaning the box and I needed to go get a second baggie to finish the job.While I was going to get the baggie,she hopped into the bucket of clean litter and wee’d.I guess I should be thankful she was smart enough to figure out that it was an appropriate(although STRANGE)place to do her business.
