Hi all! Just felt the need to share my joy! In a week I will be bringing home 4 new cuddlies! Don’t freak out, they’re rats. But rats are smart and cute and friendly and not at all the evil, smelly, dirty, bitey little monsters you see on tv. To prove it I have a website:

My sister- and brother-in-law had a rat during their apartment-dwelling days. Edgar made a great apartment pet - he was quiet, personable and quite smart. Unfortunately he also loved to eat, and got fat! Then he had to be put on a diet.
So I guess that’s a tip right there - don’t let your rats get fat. 
Sorry, no rats in my past or my future. Just hamsters in the past. I’m happy for you with your new little pets though. I hope you enjoy them for a long time (however long that is for rats…)
Have you taught them any tricks? Do you plan on taking them to rat obidience school? Would that includes how not to poopy in peoples hands, no nibbling on the power cords and no visiting the neighbors cats?
They are cute. What kind of cage do you have?
deb2world–They’re still a little young yet to learn tricks, although they are pooping on people less now. 
It’s not possible to teach them not to nibble on cords, you just gotta keep them outta their little paws, or spray them with something nasty. As for the cage, it looks like a Martian cage. It was made for chinchillas, so I had to do some renovations, and will have to do some more. But since it was used I got it at half off. I’m gonna put a pic of it on the site soon, at least by next Thursday, since that’s when they’re coming home!
