Little Black Frying Pan

hoggie90, the reason that we’re not telling you exactly how that particular version of that particular game works is that nobody other than your circle of friends tormenting you knows that exact version of that particular game. These things have many, many variations. The best we can do is tell you about similar games, so that the next time you play it, you have a better idea of what to look for and what to try-- And in fact, this is exactly what we are doing.
Engineer Don, I think that your explanation is way too complicated. If it’s pointing with the foot, then it’s always just pointing with the foot. Something as elaborate as what you said would never be figured out by anyone.
For the record, my best bet is that it’s the next person to speak after the spiel is finished. The easiest way to test this is to jump up and yell “I know! I know! It’s me!” each time. Of course, this is also likely to give it away to any other initiates present, so you won’t be able to torment them later on.

[aside]Don, my Scout troop played something similar to that pattern game, (Except the pattern was always the Man in the Moon), and I got “in” long before I figured it out, simply because I almost always cough before speaking.[/aside]

I guess you guys are right. I was just hoping that someone would know about this game. However I do not believe that my friends made a particular version of this kind of game. But then again, I really don’t know where this game originates from to make any conclusions.

One clue I can give to help you all understand this game is that sometimes, two persons who know the trick to this game may disagree sometimes. They say that it was “a tough one, it could either have been Person C or Person E” I don’t know how that may help but I’ve noticed the choice of the person they are thinking of could be of 2 different persons. The persons knowing the trick sometimes disagree but it doesn’t happen very often. The reason why I mention this is because I think the person they are thinking of is not entirely set out from the beginning. This game has got some ‘leniency’ (I don’t know if that’s the word I’m going for) as to how it works…some free space??

To show that you truly know the trick, you first have to know who the person who is asking the question is thinking of correctly and repeat the whole, “In my little black frying pan, I see [object 1,2,3]… who am I thinking of” and again answer your own question correctly.

Sometimes, they let us say it and they’ll tell us who were are thinking of. They’d say, “Hoggie, give it a try and we’ll tell you who you’re thinking about” I would say the little phrase and tell them of 3 objects I’m mentioning about and they would both agree of the person I’m thinking about. So I guess maybe it has something to do with the objects or the first vowel… I don’t know.

I hope that will help you guys out there ‘think’ for me. Because I’ve ran out of ideas and am frustrated. Although, I’m having fun trying to figure this stupid game out

Again thanks for all your help… keep giving me clues on how to find the trick or pattern behind this frying pan game

Ok, spoilers here. If you don’t want to know the secrets to Bang Bang or Black Magic, skip this post.

Hoggie, you’re right that the person doing the naming doesn’t necessarily know the answer in these games. For example:

In Black Magic, the object being though of is not known by the person doing the thinking. While the people are guessing, he looks at the objects they are guessing, and when they guess something black, the next thing they guess will be the right answer. Of course, this leads to contradictions: “my shoe?” “no” “the cat?” “no” “my shoe?” “yes”.

In Bang Bang, the person who got shot is also not known to anyone, including the shooter, until after he’s done doing the shooting and someone speaks. The first person to speak is the person who got shot.

Of course, these are just the variations that I have seen, so your mileage may vary.

Anyway, the word “black” in the name of your game makes me wonder if it’s a variation on Black Magic. Try paying attention to black things being named, and how they relate to who is being “thought of”.

Galt, I think you’re the closest one to have given a clue of great value (or at least you explained it best!). What you’re saying make sense. I think the word ‘black’ may have a lot of relevance in this particular game like you said. I will try to notice that next time I play this game.

If anyone else want to add about the game “Black Magic”, please do so because it might very well a variation of this game I’m involved in, “Little Black Frying Pan”.

I was actually giving up on thinking that anyone would know this game. Your comment was very pertinent. Thanks again, Galt.

Keep helping me with clues, ya’ll!
