Little-known brands you're fiercely loyal to

except the instant oatmeal.

But, the TLCs and the GoLean Crunch (esp. w/almonds and flax seed) totally rock.

I’ve tried the Bon Ami, but it leaves a white residue, so no go.

Fels Naphtha, Dr. Bronners, also good. My contribution would be Seventh Generation.

Maybe because that’s where the Green River is?

You wouldn’t mean Hudson’s Eumenthol Jujubes, would you?

Well, we pick up Zatarain’s all the time at Costco.

You do realize the Kashi is a Kelloggs brand, don’t you?

Two local micro-roaster coffees, Black Bear coffee and Breaking New Grounds, BNG is roasted minutes from our store

Spyderco knives

Lodge cast-iron cookware

Volant skis

I am amazed at how many of these I see on a regular basis.

Then again, I volunteer at the food co-op, so I handle a lot of tiny enviro-friendly or “healthy” foods & other products.

Let me introduce you to the Apple Blossom. Made by Simply Enjoy, which is the Giant grocery stores higher end store brand. These things must contain crack. The greatest blog ever is HeatEatReview, which is a group of office workers who blog about their frozen meals.

After reading this review:

I bought one box of Apple Blossoms. The next day I bought eight more.

Suunto wrist computers/outdoor watches/dive computers.

Some of them have amazing functionality, very solid construction with machine-milled stainless steel cases, and are very pleasing, aesthetically .

While the vast majority of folks buy WD-40, I’ll always buy Liquid Wrench™.

Zatarain’s runs professional TV commercials in San Francisco and the Central Valley, CA.

Bite your tongue. I won’t use comet my mother uses comet. and this stuff is cheaper and works wonders.

Pssssst…they also make frozen pizza. Delicious.
What I have a pistol of a time finding are certs. What the hell happened to certs? They were everywhere when I was a lass. Every impulse section at the checkouts had them and now…ppoooooofffff. Gone.
WHY WHY WHY WHY?
I like Altoids just fine, but don’t necessarily want a mint explosion in my mouth every farking time, nor do I need another Altoid tin.

Well, even tho BonAmi has been around since the Dark Ages, they now have a Web site - www.bonami.com. You can buy it online now, yay!

I used their handy store finder to find that it’s available in the hoity-toity supermarket chain around here and at Ace Hardware - neither of which I go to regularly. But I just went out and got 4 cans.

I’ve mentioned it before in recipes but I always seek out El Yucateco Habanero Sauce. Specifically the red variety (but the green is good too). For the price, it is by far the best tasting hot sauce out there with the biggest kick. It’s pretty widely available, but not everywhere. Their new chipotle hot sauce is great as well, nice balance, and it has body- Great as a side sauce with grilled steak or chicken.

…Very reasonable price and great flavor.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. Worth the price.

I found a vendor on Ebay for certs. $11.23 + 7 shipping ($2 for each extra thingie.) ooooh, must restock paypal.

I bought a couple of Clif bars tonight after work just to give them a go. Only flavor left was peanut butter. Everything else was snatched up. ( .99cent sale.)

Pace “Hot” salsa. Most of the grocery stores here sell only Mild or Medium. For fucks sake the hot isn’t even THAT hot, but it’s probably the hottest commercial brand I’ve tried.
Can anyone give me a hotter commercial alternative…Please!!!

Pipe and tube fittings and valves made by the Crawford Fitting Company and sold under the trade names “Swagelok”, “Cajon”, “Sno-trik”, “Whitey” and so forth.

These things are beautifully made. The threads are lightly plated with silver - silver! - to make them resist siezing. Various dimensions repeat themselves throughout the series. The valves have a fine and repeatable action, and there are separate valve designs for metering versus shutoff service. Their Kel-F seats and the stainless bellows on their union bonnet designs are especially nice. And the distribution network of stocking distributors is fast and effective. I once waited 18 months for a 6 position valve from their competitor, Hoke, because they hadn’t introduced a 6 position model (now they have).

I presume they are popular fare in England and although there are always a couple on the shelf at the supermarket, I have only ever known one other person who eats Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pie.

Garden Fresh Salsa is simply the best salsa this gal has ever tasted. NO other salsa is allowed into the house. Says me.
It is made, of all places, right here in Michigan.

L&P - World famous in NZ

and it mixes with Southern Comfort like … uhhh … perfection.

I need a drink

Si

OK - I’m emailing the Canadian distributor to find out how to get some of this stuff.

I had better be able to get these! (Or I’m coming to Michigan…)
