Speaking as members of the nation that brought us the live-action Scooby-Doo, I don’t know that we have a right to criticize.
Although it is a little weird to see an Asian Sailor Moon. It’s also kind of weird that it’s weird, if you know what I mean.

Rumor had it that Disney was trying to negotiate the rights for a live-action version of Sailor Moon a while back, but the owners balked when Disney said that they would make the characters westerners and set the action in California.

There is actually a stereotypical way of portraying Americans in anime, which is recognizable by the fact that they don’t look like all the other characters (who are Japanese).

Sort of true, but its not really to my point. the first anime artist deliberately made the characters look western. then they came up with other ways to make the other characters look more caucasian so as to differentiate them. Some anime characters and styles look more Japanese than others, but most are too fair-skinned and have rounded eyes. In some animes (Full Metal Panic comes to mind) the Japanese girl looks more like the American guy than the Japanese guy!

Sailor V is british… Bunny’s japanese, though. Live Action Sailor Moon’s bad, but it’s not that bad.
