During CBS covered NY Jets home games, when there is a wide shot (kickoffs, punts, PATs shot from the opposite endzone, expected hailmarys so on) there seems to be a low buzzing or reverberating sound. The closest I can come to a similar sound is the tone made by large/high-power transformers. In all of the close shots (booth camera and down play) the sound disappears (I am not making any association between the video feed and sound feed but seems logical the director cuts some of the field microphones). I have not noticed this during FOX, NBC, ESPN or, years past, ABC covered football games or any other football games covered by CBS.
I’ve lived in CT until 2 years ago, so I got 6-8 of the Jets home games covered every year. I’ve switched cable systems, switched TVs and even had the game going through a 5.1 surround sound system (crossover frequency @ 120Hz w/ sub turned off) but the sound was still there. I now live in FL missed last season due to the move, but today the Jets were at home and covered by CBS and still buzzing along quite nicely.
Anyone know what the deal is with this? I am not looking to fix the problem just curious about why this occurs only on CBS only at the Meadowlands.
Thanks,
