This thread explains what we’re doing. In a nutshell, we’re taking a key moment in history and posting as if it were happening live.
We’re going to try to keep this “in the moment” as it were, so try not to apply 20/20 hindsight to the situation. Anybody old enough to have experienced the event is encouraged to post, to keep us straight and to share their memories of the event.
If this goes well, we’ll explore other key moments in history.
To that end…ahem. November 22, 1963:
Is anyone watching the news? It looks like someone shot at President Kennedy’s motorcade!
Wow! Just wow! What was going through Jack Ruby’s mind when he shot Oswald? Now we’ll never know if Oswald did it, acted alone or what! This is just awful!
Damn, that new Chrysler with the push-button transmission is a fine looking machine. Push-button! It’s the wave of the future. Now if I could just get some music on this radio. All the stations sound like they are just doing news breaks.
Castro, Castro is a pimp, I think it was Khrushchev.
I think I saw Mr. Kronkite crying, I have never seen him break like that before. Do they have any leads yet? Did anyone or groups claim responsibility?
Khrushchev? I don’t think the Soviets are capable of doing something like this: they can’t even feed their own people, and used up a lot of their resources getting Yuri Gagarin into space. I think it’s more likely to be the CIA or the FBI.
