My brother, who is an editor at Tokyopop, heard about it at work and dug up the article, but it doesn’t seem to be making national news.
Rest in peace, Mr. Alexander. He kissed me on the cheek once.

RIP. I loved the Prydain books when I was a youngster.
I was just thinking about him yesterday and wondering, for some strange reason, if he was going to be around much longer. It’s a pity. An excellent writer of children’s fiction, with moral lessons far superior in depth and insight than most of what we pass off as moral instruction to kids.
I recently finished reading the Westmark trilogy. Farewell Mr. Alexander. Thanks for your books.
The Kestrel used to be my absolute favourite book period. The Beggar Queen was a close second. Loved the author.
Oh, my. I absolutely adored the Prydain books as a child - I still do. Find peace in the Summer Country, Mr. Alexander.
Me, too.
I dug The Marvelous Misadventures of Sebastian the most. Thank you for all the happy hours, Mr. Alexander.
I’m going to hit the library now and see if they’ve got any of his stuff I haven’t read before.
There’s a Washington Post obituary now.
I’m surprised there wasn’t anything in the Philadelphia Inquirer today, since he lived in the area.
I loved the Chronicles of Prydain, I remember Time Cat fondly. I remember reading (actually more like devouring them) the chronicles when I was in the sixth grade. I blew through them very quick. I read the last three while home sick one day from school.
Looks like he a had a good and fulfilling life. Rest in Peace Mr Alexander and thank you for the great books.

That sucks. Oh, I know he was getting up there in years, but I always pull the ostrich thing and assume people will live forever. Dammit dammit dammit.
Farewell to one of the greats. The Chronicles of Prydain is one of the best fantasy series there is.
I’ve never read his books but I think I would love to! What better tribute to his legacy than having his death attract a new fan or thousand. Which of his works should I read first?
Alexander’s dead? Whatever. Stop spreading rumors, ya big llyr.
I’d start with the best. Read the first book in his Prydain Chronicles: The Book of Three.
Bummer!
I read the Pyrdain stuff when I was the appropriate age and absolutely loved them. He probably contributed to my writing ambitions, but I had forgotten about him. Someone who affected so many people in a positive way cannot be said to have lived in vain.
I just finished reading Taran Wanderer to the boys last night. We’ll start The High King tonight but, I have to say, I will be a little sad.
The only reason the Prydain Chronicles stopped being my favorite books was because people started giving me funny looks when I mentioned them and saying, “Aren’t those children’s books?” Oh, who am I kidding? They are still at the very top of my list. Not long ago I decided to order the series from Amazon and re-read it – for me it still holds up and does not read at all like something written for children. Now I have an excuse to read it all again.
Godspeed, Mr. Alexander, and thank you.
