lobby power, how do i get some?

I’m doing some research. An automotive webforum that I visit is (collectively) sick and tired of seeing our hobby regulated to death because of Ohio’s inept legislation, archaic laws, and EPA overregulation. How would we go about gaining the support of a local or state politician?? I was thinking along the lines of campaign donations or somehow gaining lobby powers.

I don’t have the foggiest idea of how to even start researching this, thanks for your help.

Just hire a lobbyist to do all that for you. Your Secretary of State’s office will probably have a list of all registered lobbyists in Ohio. However, if you’re worried about state regulation, that’s an executive branch power not legislative. Further, the EPA is federal and huge. I would stick to Ohio regulations, which state law trumps.

I would agree with hiring someone. A politician will not take the lead on an issue unless there is a parade of constituents behind him/her. Without some organization and a lot of money, you’re just a lone voice.
