Local races and party identification.

I’m at my local polling place right now and have received a lot of pamphlets on the way in, some from the candidates themselves. Their is mention of all kind of things, but none of the flyers for any of the candidates say whether they are Democrats or Republicans. Is this something typical of local races, or is this something that may be unique to my area of South Texas? I would think that party would be something that would be prominent on campaign literature, especially for local offices like district judge or school board where people may not be as familiar with the candidates.

Same thing in Florida (and the GOP flyers in my mail this week outranked the Dem ones by at least 10-1).

Where I live, in the county-only or town-only races, everyone runs as an Independent. Folks who know anything about local politics, know who leans left and who leans right. My county’s Democratic Party has had local Independent speakers that are really 'Pubs and vice versa.
