Who the hell do you use for your homeowner’s insurance? We detest ours but had to go with them because they were the only ones we could find that would cover a log cabin. I realize that your company may not be available in MA but at least it’d give me a starting point.

We ran into this problem in Massachusetts with out circa 1760 colonial. There was only one company that would insure it at all. I wanted to tell the rest of them that the house had been there 250 years already so it was obviously a good bet but I don’t think that would work. The company that would insure it was Utica and and they still had reasonable rates. I don’t know for sure but maybe they cover other atypical types of houses as well.
you might look to companies that do rural or farm insurance, much of what they insure is old or different from modern dwellings.
