Long term Contract job or stay in job I hate

Well, there’s the small matter of SIXTY THOUSAND MORE DOLLARS.

POSSIBLY $60K more. The only temp to possible hire job I’ve ever had didn’t work out, so…

I hate to say, but we all need to admit it, every job in 2015 is a temp job. It doesn’t matter of it’s hourly or so-called permanent, it’s all temp jobs in the private sector.

Hell, I’m public sector and my department just got dissolved and we all got parted out to other jobs. Unhappily.

Well said, Edwardcoast and true. Used to be that loyalty was rewarded…now you’re looked at as odd if you stay too long in one company.

I stand corrected. I also just remembered about a friend of mine at a public university where they did a layoff of computing staff. Something which is unheard of in recent years. So he ended up being unemployed for many months before finding a contract job.

Yes, I’ve heard someone refer to a co-worker who had been with the same company for 15 years as a “burn out”. People use to brag about being with the same company for so long. Now it’s looked at that you might not have your skills up to date and you didn’t leave before no one else would hire you.

It’s all short-term thinking now. Someone starts a company, not to be the next GM, or Apple, or Google, but to get it to a point to sell the company, or it’s patent or it’s brand, or merge and then get rid of the workers.

Well done on taking the new job. It’s very sad seeing people too pathetic or scared to quit their job when they hate it.
