So, yeah. I’ve been lurking over here at the SDMB for months now. Finally decided to go ahead, suck it up, register myself, and try out a post for fun.
I’ve immensely enjoyed reading the posts over here, mostly in MPISM’s. I too was saddened by Wally’s passing, but as a lurker who hadn’t posted, I didn’t feel it would be right to post on that thread. But now I just feel like I want to be more a part of this group of wonderfully intelligent people!
So… I have not real OP… um, how about…
“Why is it that my pepsi bottle says “1 in 6 wins extra music points” but I’ve gone through about 30 bottles in the past 2 weeks and have gotten exactly squat?”
Wow… I’ve definitely seen many of your posts around here… so I feel a bit honored that the first person to respond to my post was at least a bit of a veteran!
About the pepsi thing… I actually visited their website for that make your own cd thing, and I doubt I could find enough songs there that I want to hear to fill a cd anyway. Oh well. Such is life.
Is there a standard amount of pitiful remorse that I will need to show to be properly accepted? Or am I destined to be an outcast forever for this (albeit it grave) little mistake?
Welcome, outcast. To prevent double posts, ya gotta “trust the CGI,” or so I’m told. Just hit submit once, 99¾ times out of 100 your post goes through. I’ll go mop up the mess now.
Double Wow! Uncle Beer! I truly feel honored to be designated an “outcast” by you!
I actually have seen the “trust the CGI” messages numerous times… and I thought there was even some sort of flood control that I had heard about before… my problem wasn’t hitting the submit button twice, but rather hitting the “middle” mouse button which a colleague for some reason felt the necessity to designate as a “double click” button… so I inadvertently double clicked, I think…
But thanks for mopping up my mess! I swear on everything that is beer that I will do my utmost to prevent such a “foe-pah” from happening again.
thanks for the welcome! I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who has made such an error of judgment on his/her first post! Maybe we could start our own little outcast society?
I too have been ‘lurking’ for some time but last month decided to register, to finally join all in SD land.
Unfortunately at my current post rate I should hit 100 posts sometime next year.
I HAVE BEEN SMOKE-FREE FOR:
Two months, two weeks, six days, 12 hours, 17 minutes and 51 seconds.
3260 cigarettes not smoked, saving $407.56.
Life saved: 1 week, 4 days, 7 hours, 40 minutes.
