Longevity Drug in the Works

Want to live an extra 30 years?

O foucrse, it’ll probably be kept off the market for reasons of national security or something.

Can’t wait to see what the side effects are.

I feel a Twilight Zone episode coming on…

I’m sure you’ll get used to the fur eventually.

Shit, I’ll take fur for an extra 30 years. I can always shave.

I’d imagine that if you were on this, the side effects wouldn’t bother you a bit.

If you think social security is in trouble now …

Seriously, consider some of the social and economic ramifications of a 30 year extension of life. What comes to my mind is ;(IMHO)
1.) An enormous swell in the population followed by mandatory birth control.
2.) A widening in the class gap. Imagine how much more wealth could be accumulated with another 30 years.
3.) Short to mid-term, famines, economic depression, joblessness, crime. Long term these would stabilize, but we could see a change in the forms of government in most of the world.
4.) The minimum drinking age would probably be raised to 30, same for driver’s licenses and voting age.
5.) Endless re-makes of “Matlock” and “The Golden Girls”.

Long-term, if humanity can survive it, it will probably be a good thing. Short term, lots of growing pains.
