Erik the Viking, when Hy-Brazil sinks into the ocean.
Superdude:
I don’t think Drebin is oblivious to what’s going on behind him, I think he’s such a by-the-numbers cop that he cluelessly thinks that by saying that, he can convince the crowd to move along and not stare.
I thought about that, cmpunk, on first viewing. But it didn’t seem to hold up in later viewings. For instance, when he and the commissioner are arguing about his antics (which happened prior to the movie’s start). Here’s a clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4ui_eQF4oE#t=40.
Seems to me that he’s pretty clueless. Or, when he’s talking about an old love to Priscilla Presley, and he said, “I’d known her for years. We used to go to all the police functions together. Ah, how I loved her, but she had her music. I think she had her music. She’d hang out with the Chicago Male Chorus and Symphony. I don’t recall her playing an instrument or being able to carry a tune. Yet she was on the road 300 days of the year. In fact, I bought her a harp for Christmas. She asked me what it was.”
And I see now that they’re going to reboot this movie series with Ed Helms as Frank Drebin!
