Looking for a specific kind of cookbook

You know, it really seems like this kind of cookbook SHOULD be incredibly easy to find-- but I’m not so sure I can remember ever having seen one! I think I can describe exactly what it would be like. It would in the “How to Save Money By Shopping Intelligently” category, and it would be broken down either week by week or into food categories. Let’s say you had “chicken week.” You’d have a list of staples that you needed to have on hand-- flour, seasonings, cheese, salad dressings, etc. Then, there would be a food shopping list just for that particular week, based on chicken and on whatever vegetables and side dishes went with “chicken week.” Chicken marengo, chicken with black beans, black bean and spinach and chicken soup, Chicken Surprise, Chicken We’re Even More Surprised With Spinach, and so on and on. Then you’d have “beef week”. Then you’d have, I don’t know, “tofu week” for the vegetarians. The point is, all of the shopping and eating for each week would be based on the same kind of food, which would be designed to save money.

Why on earth aren’t there cookbooks like this??? Or if there are, where in the world are they hidden??? I’m starting to think it would be easier to write one myself… :dubious: But this is just ridiculous; they HAVE to be out there.

This one sounds like it might have some of what you’re looking for as do the “Saving Dinner the (blank) way” books by this author
It sounds like you’re looking for meal planning books that have some additional features - I’m not sure that these will do what you want, but they might lead you to others that do.
