Looking for a thin, light monitor to pack with my laptop

I edit video. After updating the hard disk in my laptop, I find I have enough space and speed that I can edit a show on my laptop. I shoot concerts with several cameras, and I sync them and do a “multicam” edit. The problem of course is that while I can fit both the edit program interface on the screen as well as previews for each camera, everything is reduced too much in size to be usable.

I’ve become spoiled by my desktop system with two monitors.

Where can I find an AC powered VGA or HDMI monitor that is thin and light? Ideally, I would pack this second monitor in the bag with my laptop. It doesn’t have to be extremely high res or terribly bright. The interface of the program would go on this monitor, while the video would remain on the laptop screen.

No need for battery operation - I’m not going to edit 4 streams of HD video on any battery.

Is there a term for this type of monitor? I want something as thin as a laptop screen, that would have an external power supply (wall wart).

Seems like you have a few choices:

The most relevant is probably the Samsung Lapfitseries.

On the smaller size, there are also lots of 7"-9" portable monitors meant for Playstations and Xboxes that could also work.

PS: I just searched for “portable monitor” or “portable laptop monitor”.

ETA: There is also a mid-sized portable monitor that’s not yet produced.

Cool, thank you! That last one looks perfect, but I may have to settle for one of the others. I have eight concerts to shoot and edit in January, and will probably have to cut at least a few on a train or bus.
