My Beloved and I will be celebrating our 38th Anniversary on July 11th, and plan on visiting Port Orchard and Bremerton. Our plans include driving up, then travelling by ferry from Port Orchard to Bremerton and Bremerton to Seattle. All we need is a place to park the car and our bags, so more cheapass than upscale will suite our needs. Any suggestions for motels, hotels etc.? We would like to arrive that Friday, and leave Monday morning.
The ferry from Port Orchard to Bremerton is passenger only. So you’ll leave your car in Port Orchard (or you can drive it to Bremerton, it’s only 12 minutes or so).
There are two hotels near the ferry terminal. The Hampton Inn is on the water and fairly decent. The Fairfield Inn (Marriot) is not on the water, but very close. Maybe a block (or two) from the ferry.
Are you staying in Seattle one night? or returning to Bremerton?
The plan is to foot it on the ferries, and stay in either Port Orchard or Bremerton.
I don’t have any intel on the hotels in Port Orchard. I think you’ll be happy at the Hampton Inn in Bremerton though. Easy to walk on ferries to Port Orchard or Seattle. As you may know, Kitsap Transit has a passenger “fast ferry” to and from Seattle that cuts the time in half. I prefer the big old school ferries, as you can get up and walk around to see the sights.
Port Orchard wins the charm contest, but if that’s not a factor, lodging is probably less expensive and more plentiful in Bremerton.
I live and work in Port Orchard. There’s a Comfort Inn right in the water that’s about a ten minute walk to the foot ferry dock. Kinda cheapass, but it wasn’t bad when I stayed there for a couple days.
