Here’s an odd request. I’ve been looking for a web site that contains information about brand names and companies, specifically who owns what. For instance, I know that Old Navy is owned by the Gap, that Minute Maid is owned by Coca Cola, GE owns NBC, etc.
Does anyone know of a IMDB-style site that allows you to explore these connections? I think it would be interesting, and it seems like information that would be out there. Any info appreciated.
For a U.S. corporation, whatever state they are incorporated in will have that information, and it’s public domain. Here in Texas the Secretary of State handles corporate franchises; at that office’ website you can look up any Texas corporation and get status, officers, registered agents, etc. (curiously, only during working hours).
It seems likely that most, if not all, states would offer something similar. I believe the appropriate entity in Delaware is the Department of Corporations.
