I think it was from the 80’s or 90’s. A man is told that he is dying, and he goes to an institute that promises that they will kill him, but only at the happiest moment of his life. They promise that they don’t use drugs for false happiness, but that he will never be happier than he will be right before they kill him.
Any ideas?
Haven’t seen it, but let me guess- He gets a call saying it was a mistake, he’s not really dying, shot of him with a huge joyful smile on his face, and then, bam! Fade to black.
Almost. Inbetween the call and the smile is the foundation saying there is no refund, Him falling in love with another client, the both of them making a harrowing escape, then a declaration of massive happiness, then…

Went through all the seasons of Tales From The Darkside and all three versions of Twilight Zone-no luck.
Isn’t an episode of Amazing Stories (which are available at archive.org, BTW.)
How about The Outer Limits? (I haven’t dug through the list.)
Don’t recognize the story either. But “Dark Room”, “Night Visions” and “Tales of the Unexpected” might be other lists of episodes to comb through.
