So, I’ve been on Medicare since June, and have a Plan G that I like.
Now I’m told that i should have gotten Plan D (prescription drugs) also.
My insurance company doesn’t offer a plan D, but I absolutely don’t want to switch my plan G. All I want is to add a plan D policy, but I have been unable to find any company offering a separate plan D policy.
Can anyone point me to an insurance company offering a stand-alone Medicare Plan D?
Have you tried the Medicare Plan Finder? It’s on Medicare’s website and lets you find what’s best for you based on what meds you take and how much you’re willing to pay.
You want Medicare Part D. Check out info direct from Medicare on how to get Part D.
Medicare, straight from Uncle Sam, has Part A to cover Hospital care; Part B to cover outpatient doctor’s care and such. The newer Medicare Part D covers prescription drugs.
Medicare Supplement insurance plans are policies you buy from a private insurer. The government standardized what plans private insurers can offer. Plan G from one company covers the same things as Plan G from another company. And so forth. There are plans A through J, but each company is not required to offer each of the possible plans. It sounds like the OP’s Medicare Supplement insurance company does not offer plan D.
