Looking for press releases from 1929

My google skills are failing me. I’d like to find a press release or a dozen that were written in 1929. Ideally, I’d love to see a press release written in the aftermath of Black Tuesday in which a company announces a management shakeup. BUt I’m not particular; mostly I’d like to see what the format and language was like in press releases from that era. Does anyone have any ideas where I could find such a beast?

You’re probably stuck with the onerous task of actually going to the library and looking through the microfilm collection.

The public libraries in Arizona would have had stuff like this easy, but I haven’t been as impressed with public libraries in California. You might need to go to your local college library.

I’ve just come back from New Year’s vacation. I’ll search a newspaper database, in a while, and see if I can give you something. Have patience.

samclem, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Did some looking through the Historical NY Times. Bloody hard to find what you’re looking for.

My reading of a few hundred headlines in the aftermath of the drop would suggest there weren’t all that many shakeups in the few months after. Suicides–you betcha. But not many firings.

I’m losing it tonight. Need sleep. Maybe will try again tomorrow night.

No worries. It’s far from vital that I find it; it’s a matter of curiosity and of preparation for a game. I didn’t think of checking out NYTimes’s archive; I’ll play with that tomorrow. Thanks again for looking!

Is there a particular company or companies that you’re looking for?
