My wife, a teacher, is looking for an online Renaissance themed game with factual content that could conceivably be used for eductional purposes. Teaching about people, culture, lifestyles whatever. Any ideas?
I’ve been a Rennie for ten years, and I can’t think of anything online other than Faire participant handbooks.
A Renaissance Faire in its own self can be educational - the Faire I’m with now is having “Student Days” next week where we demonstrate arts and crafts, the social structure of the time, clothing of the time, etc. As it’s intended for and open only to kids, much of the bawdiness is filtered out. (Not to mention the drinking!)
Assassin’s Creed II has beautiful renditions of Florence, Venice, and other areas in Italy - it includes a lot of detailed historical info about many of the locations. The storyline is certainly non-historical though and that might make it unsuitable for your wife. It’s also PS3, not online.
