Speaking of honkers, there’s what I take to be a current cut being played on our jazz station quite a bit. Ultra-fast-paced version of “Something’s Gotta Give.” Shades of Rollins, and I can’t remember the artist. Spectacular playing though.

How in the world did we get this far without mentioning Paul Gonsalves’ blistering epic solo on Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue from Ellington at Newport 1956? Wow.
