As mentioned in this thread, my business looks like it is over. So I was out job hunting.
My business partners asked me if I would take temp work and - if they get things rolling - come back in the fall.
Since I was relatively certain I could find temp work, I agreed to give it a chance.
An old friend and work colleague called me last night to confirm that they have temp work for me at a really good rate. It is only a verbal commitment now - they still have to close the deal with their client - but it looks pretty good.
Haven’t been paid in two months and because I am an officer I can’t get unemployment. An income will feel good.
That’s great! I’m also relieved to realize that the thread title wasn’t Looks like I got a new pig.
Too funny. I can’t tell you how many thread titles I misread. I think Opal has a thread that says: I’m thinking of letting my son live with his dad. And I’ve misread it with the title ending at live.
Please elaborate if you can. What kind of officer and why aren’t they eligible for unemployment?
Sorry - was vague wasn’t it?
In PA, if you are an officer of the company you work for, you are not eligible for unemployment, but you still have to pay in. I’m trying to think too, if I have the right terminology. But basically, as one of the major stake-holders, I cannot collect.
My understanding is, this is to prevent people from starting their own business, working for a while and laying themselves off just to collect unemployment.
Got it. I couldn’t get past Police Officer or Military Officer. Thanks.
