Anybody remember reading this verse, written by JRRT? (Humble Servant, you’re the most likely candidate!)
Later this got changed to
And in its penultimate form, it started
[sub]well, maybe not that last quote[/sub]

But wasn’t the concept of seven houses of the Dwarves (with a Lord for each) already established by that point? And I find it interesting that the final form is closer to the original, there, than it is to the later one.
No, I haven’t read any of the HoME beyond Lost Tales I and II, but I can certainly respect when others have. It does wonders for your nerd cred, let me tell you.
Nerd cred. I’m basking here.
The changes to the verses seemed likely and evolutionary [sub](well, maybe not the pawning their mothers part–that can only be explained, IMHO, by “writing aids” JRRT was unfamiliar with)[/sub], but Bingo and Trotter (and bloodlust Frodo) should make even casual LOTR followers blanch. These guys don’t seem like they should have been in the direct line of descent–more like evolutionary deadends.
I particularly liked the verse stuff in HOMES–I thought Errantry (the ultimate predecessor of Earendil was a Mariner) was charming.
Admit it. You’re one of those pervy hobbit-fanciers, aintcha?

Hobbits? Nah, it’s those elven women! Heck, my daughter is one of the peredhil!
All right, stop
Collaborate and listen
Frodo is back with my brand new invention
This ring grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a ring wraith daily and nightly
Will it ever stop? Yo – I don’t know
Throw it in the fire and it glows
To the extreme. I blow smoke rings like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a orc like a candle
If there was a problem, Yo, I’ll solve it
Form a fellowship while my wizard resolves it
Took Took, baby
I’m Frodo Took Took, baby
