I know he was incredibly popular in his day, but he seems like more of a curiosity nowadays. Does he have any fans here who actually laugh at his material?
I think he’s funny. But mostly I just notice him because of his rubber face.

I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job as Osgood Fielding III in Some Like it Hot.
The bit when Jack Lemmon “comes out to him” is just wonderful.
Sadly, most of his work in the early years were in less-than-quality films. And in later works it was a lot of small roles, if not cameos.
I dote on vintage screen comedy, and I only know him from Some Like it Hot, also.

PS: To me, Some Like it Hot counts as contemporary screen comedy.
