LOUNE gets in first car accident

Good to see you’re hale and hearty. Go see a doctor. A sore neck and/or back after an MVA is likely to go away by itself but it might signal something more serious like signal spinal cord impingement.

Glad to hear you’re alright, man. Speedy recovery and good fortunes in the court of law!

It was a head on in an old car without an airbag. Just a lap belt. He is in excellent shape which helped him be OK. PS it was a 20 year old Mercury Tracer. The evil kid has a Toyota Supra.

Glad you’re OK, LOUNE! That sucks about the car though…

Oddly enough, Astrogirl was also in a car wreck yesterday… she was on her way home from church about 1:00PM (I was at work) when she heard squealing tires behind her. She saw a red car rear-end her, spun around at least once that she knows of, and went over an embankment off the side of the highway. She woke up in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. We’ve no idea what happened beyond this blurb I found online.

The result: she’ll be OK; 10 stitches to the back of her head, a lot of bruises and a nice stripe across her chest where the seat belt caught her, and a very, very sore leg… a tired hubby who didn’t sleep a lot last night but is taking at least today off work (probably tomorrow too, unless she can walk by then), and a car that I assume is totaled. In an hour or so I’ll call the CHP and see what happened to the car…

Drive safe everyone!

Amazing how rapidly these things happen. Your reflexes are insufficient to save you. Driving along and bam, loud noise and instant damage.
Like others have mentioned do not assume she is well. It may take time to show up.

You know, it’s kinda funny. It all DIDN’T happen “so fast”, but it was definitely unavoidable. I should know. I saw everything develop and happen and it just wasn’t possible for me to get completely out of the way.

Looking at the car, and I have some pictures on my phone, I probably should have been worse off. I had a nice mark on one side of my neck from the seat belt (and assorted little pieces of glass that were stuck in my neck and shoulder). My neck was stiff, although that’s about a hundred percent better now (I’d say in the 90s) and my right ankle was stiff as well. That one confuses me. I’d have thought that my right ankle would have been stiff because the area where the pedals were was compressed from that side.

Also, the kid that “caused” the accident didn’t have a Supra. It was a Nissan sedan of some sort.

I got checked out by a doctor (the father of one of the guys that works for the campaign) and I’m fine. There’s just a small muscle spasm in the back of my neck. I appreciate all the wel wishes and maybe we can parlay this into a guilt-Dopefest of some sort. Maybe we can even blame **olives ** and Dom leaving us as the *real * cause of the accident.).

Glad you’re all right LOUNE. MPSIMS wouldn’t be the same without ya.

Oh man, if I’d have been there, I would have totally prevented that accident. :frowning:

I about had a heart attack when I read this OP. We are really glad you’re okay.

So glad you’re alright, LOUNE. hugs

Well, dammit, I’m glad I’m well too!

Sorry, I’m not in The Pit very often. We have to yell around here, don’t we?

You want me to cuss some because this is the Pit? Fuck those little assholes!

I’m glad you are not dead!

I’m glad you’re not dead, too!

Holy shit, I don’t know how I missed this one. Count me in with the well wishers that are very glad that you’re alright man.

Yeah fuck you too LOUNE, no wait, ehhh never mind.

Holy shit, Astroboy14, that’s crazy!

I’m glad she and LOUNE are both OK.

Glad you are alright. Sucks about the car, before you go shopping, ask among friends, sometimes you get lucky and someone is ready to move up to a new car just as you need one.

Believe it or not, it is optional. The worst case is the thread might get moved.

STRONGLY seconded. You might think you’re okay now, but could later find yourself in pain. Get everything documented by a doctor and don’t be afraid to say, “yeah, it does hurt a little here…”

More inappropriate-to-the-pit well-wishes from me, LOUNE! Glad you weren’t seriously hurt.

I had a car totalled by an uninsured driver once. Sucked.

This is one of those cases where I wish maturity and a sense of personal responsibility were required before you could get behind the wheel.

So glad you’re OK LOUNE. And I’m right there with you in the outrage department, gonzomax. Hope the legal stuff is worked out quickly and in LOUNE’s favor.

Yeah… we got back from the towing yard a little while ago. Apparently, whoever invented airbags saved my wife’s life yesterday.

We’re both a bit freaked out right now…
