LOUNE gets in first car accident

Egad, that poor car looks like it’s been thru a blender!

I’m very glad to hear Astrogirl survived that, how incredibly scary for you both.

I wish her speedy healing and lots of chocolate.

LOUNE survived? Whatever. shrug clings tightly

I’m glad he and Astrogirl are okay.

LOUNE, I am glad to hear that you’re okay.

I was in an accident in Utah about 7 years ago, hit by an underage, uninsured driver in a No Fault Insurance state… I just sued her parents… and won. My car was totaled and I was stranded in Utah of all places. Thankfully my insurance (from Nevada) got me a rental car and medical care. My car was totaled, but the money I sued for got me a new (to me) car.

I say sue the fuckers parents for damages, as I doubt you can sue a minor in Michigan.

Astroboy… glad to hear that you wife if okay as well.

In Michigan we have no fault . You can not sue anybody except for body damage. The idea was to eliminate the "lotto winning suits " that Bush types cry about. The result is that if you have an older car and get into an accident ,you are out a car with no recourse. It costs a lot to get insurance on your car. Often more than the car is worth. So people in Michigan are allowed to pay some of the highest insurance rates just to drive legally. You pay and get nothing .

Damn, Astrogirl. Good to hear you’re okay.

double post, sorry.

Thanks! Glad you’re OK too!

Sorry, by the way… didn’t mean to hijack your thread…

The wifey is up and hobbling around slowly this evening, so she’ll be OK after a few weeks of healing. I’m in trouble though; we went to the hospital today to have them check her leg, as we weren’t sure if it had been x-rayed or not, and in was hurting her a LOT. Turns out it’s all muscle damage, nothing broken… but in the course of our check-in at the ER, our nurse, after asking the wife several questions, and the wife complaining several times that I wasn’t providing adequate translation services (keep in mind that her Ainglees is good, but not perfect, and hospital staff don’t wanna hear from me; they wanna hear from HER where and how it hurts!), the wifey said, “You’re not translating enough!” I said, “Sure I am!” The nurse said, “Dang, she’s whiney, huh?”

Wisely, I cracked up and laughed hard at my wifey being medically diagnosed as “whiney”.

I’ll… be on the couch if you need me… :frowning:

Hey LOUNE, buddy, don’t forget that like Queen Tonya, I’m metro-local too, and I would be pleased out of my gourd if I could lure you into my 1994 Dodge Dakota with a piece of candy so you’d let me chauffeur you around when you need it. I’m serious, just call me. I left my phone number on Tonya’s bathroom wall last month but I’ll PM it to you in case you forgot to jot it down.

And…I know excatly the frustrations you feel. My vehicle, the aforementioned 1994 Dodge Dakota is in great shape with only 75k miles on it, less some air conditioning whicch I’m tiold is either a quick fix with a recharge or else it needs a new compressor. Either way I can’t afford it right now since I’ve been out of work on medical Leave of Absence since July 3, and my health insurance through work has assured me that my measly 60% of barely over minimum wage STD checks are very important to them, knowing how I depend entirely on their whim at whether or not I have enough money to make my doctor’s co-pay. fill my scripts, or put food on the table. I haven’t seen a short term disability check yet. I’m on my very last twenty dollors, periodl My true fear is that I’ll have to return to work earlier than what my docs say is healthy for be because there are just some things that cannot go unpaid. I need either that STD check or a $200 paycheck, and as pitiful as it sounds, that would pull me out of enough angst to get bck to working on getting healthy again.

Alas, I digress and rant (and fear) but I’m certainly available if you need a ride anywhere at all. I’ve got all the time in the world and I can think of no better companion to ride with, and I’d subject you to all kinds of 70s and 80s pop music. What could be more fun?

He is using my car. A 1998 Lincoln Town Car with 56,000 miles on it. It creeps me out because I wanted it to last forever.

Ooh. Candy?
