FWIW, “Swarm” was a nearly word for word adaptation of a short story in Bruce Sterling’s Shaper/Mechanist book/stories from the early 80s. In-universe, it makes a lot of sense.
I’m about halfway through this season and loving it.
I liked that the rats one had a happy ending.
Me too. They nailed that tilt-shift miniature look.
Does anyone know - were the giant mutant fire-breathing zombies a specific reference, or just general escalation?
It felt very videogamey, like a later level tougher enemy. Probably not a specific reference though.
Yeah, Jibaro was very unsettling. I was trying to figure out how they made it. Apparently it’s all stop-motion CGI (not motion capture). They had professional dancers perform the scenes and then used them as reference.
Kill Team Kill was hilariously horrifying. (Joel McHale and Seth Green providing some of the voices).
Mason’s Rats also deserves a mention.
Through many of the shorts, I felt like there was a common theme of “team goes in, unexpected monstrous horror, maybe one or none come out” Mason’s Rats was sort of the reverse of that.
