New Venture Brothers tonight ! [open spoilers]

Just noticed - had no idea.

Sorry for the late notice!

Well… I’ll have to watch it again since the order was so disjointed. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen this season.

I prefer Sgt. Hatred as a pedophile though.

Dunno why they chose to edit it as they did and have everything out of sequence.

Loved the cut scene after the credits.

Ha. You got to see a “disjointed” version? Lucky bastard.

They just ran the first half of the episode twice on my feed. :smack:

No kidding. Nice going, Adult Swim and/or Cable company.

You got to see the first half of it twice? Luxury! [adult swim] sent a junior executive over to my house with a copy of the script, and he just stood outside the window, waving it at me, taunting me with it!

Damn, that’s what I got, too. Nice WTF, Adult Swim!

I liked Hank’s haircut, though, in the sequences where they were killing Hitler.

Ok, so I assume the flashy titles throughout the episode are the names of future episodes, and it only occurred to me at the end that the price tracker at the top is the value of the first Marvel comic and since the price kept going up all the fragments must be in reverse chronological order…I’ll have to go back and watch it again.

I think it liked the show more when the plot was just the vehicle for comedy Tag Sale - You’re IT! is my favorite episode and there’s almost no plot at all. I think every new season they try to top the strangeness of the last one and they’re starting to lose me.

This show really needs a Reader’s Guide. I look forward to seeing 24 back though.

I would agree with the idea that it’s not quite as good with this over-plot stuff. Season 2 was my absolute favorite with all the single episode stand alone Adventure stories. (Viva Los Muertos being my favorite) Season 3 really lost me with the long, drawn out continuity story.

Let’s get back to some single episode adventures!

I seem to be in the minority here. I like the episode quite a bit. I also like season story arc rather than stand alone episodes. Not that I dislike stand alones, but a longer story arc draws me into a series much more than hitting the reset button at the end of every episode.

Is it possible to see it online yet? I didn’t see it at Adult Swim.

It seemed to be a nod to the movie Memento, which, as described in the wikipedia article, “is presented in two alternating sequences of scenes; one set of scenes, filmed in black and white, progresses forward, while the second set of scenes are in color and presented in reverse order; the two sequences “meet” at the end of the film, thus overall describing one common story”

The scenes that started with the flashy titles were going in forward chronological order, while the scenes that started with the value of the comic book were shown in reverse chronological order. They meet in the chronological middle at the end of the episode, but before the post-credits scene, which is actually the end of the episode, chronologically.

At first I thought I missed a season or an episode or something, and I had no idea about the comic grading system, so that portion made no sense to me until the henchman that presented the comic book said it was CGC 9.6 or something like that. They make that point a lot clearer when they show the value decreasing in real time as the book is uncased for the first time and read.

I liked it. More so after I watched it the second time.

Actually, the flashy titles were a reference to Marvel Comics #1, the issue that the price tracker is following. See the cover here - all the flashy titles are there, from The Human Torch to Jungle Adventures.

Thanks for that. I can appreciate the episode a little more for tying those into the storyline.

I didn’t get it, either, until I looked that issue up online to see what it was really worth. I always appreciate the details they bring to that cartoon.

Not enough Mr. and Mrs. Monarch, nowhere near enough Rusty. I’m feeling unfulfilled this week.

The commercial last night said it will be played every night this week to make up for it.

Good move by CN. I recorded it and just got the chance to watch it. I’ll definitely watch it again. I never saw Memento, but part of the episode reminded me of the Seinfeld episode, “The Betrayal” which had the scenes in reverse order.

I liked Brock’s “Grizzly Adams” look and the return of Steve Summers. Standalone episodes like “Tag Sale” are good, but I also like episodes like this one which reward you on a second or third viewing.

I liked the tagged X-1. And I only watched it once, but why was 21 on the X-1 with his larp group. 24 was probably driving the Stanza.

Umm…if you’re wondering where 24 is you really need to watch the season 3 finale again.

He was blown up.
