Low caffiene good coffee - not decaf.

What coffees (brand and type) naturally have lower caffiene levels but is not decaffenated and still taste good.

Our local coffee shop uses the best coffee. Then they run it through a charcoal filter to take out the caffeine right in front of the customer. It would be nice if we could do that.

That’s a new one on me, handy. And I know a little about coffee.
Here’s some info.
I’ve done some research and tried many decafs, but none tasted as good as regular coffee. The closest I came was with blends of regular and decaf, but in trying different ratios I discovered that the closer I came to 100%, the better the coffee tasted. I’ve also consulted with other coffee lovers and they all agree. Coffee is caffeine. Simple.
So, handy, please check with that coffee shop and let me know what they say. I say the’re filtering out acid, not caffeine. Which, by the way, also ruins the taste of good coffee. Better to roast it out.
Enjoy the taste, enjoy the buzz.
You too, k2dave. Sorry I couldn’t help.

If you can handle it a coffee/chicory blend is lower caffeine-since chicory doesn’t contain it.

Most blends are 20-40% chicory, with a resulting lower % of caffeine.

Some people in Nawlins swear by it,others, mostly from other regions, at it.

Thanks Lore I don’t know what that is but it’s worth a shot.

Also I want to stress that I am not looking for any coffee that is decaf’ed just a type of been that is lower in caffiene then the rest (and still taste good).

So Please don’t suggest decalf blends or do it yourself put-coffee-through-a-britta-filter methods. :stuck_out_tongue:

Both Australia and Zimbabwe produce naturally low caffeine beans due to the mild climates in the growing areas. Check out beans from either source.

I searched thru “coffee roasters” and coffee retailers" looking for a company that had the chicory blends on supermarket shelves, since I purchased some in the past in the NYC area.

Too many links to go thru (many hundreds) to nail one down, but one site,(mail order coffee roasters) had lbs.for $6.25.If a supermarket search proves fruitless, use your search engine, but be prepared to spend time nailing it down.A tip, look for Louisiana addresses.

Arabica beans generally have about half as much caffeine as robusta beans, but amounts vary according to growing conditions and roasting techniques. I believe that the major brands (Folgers, Maxwell House), use a blend of the two types, but 100% arabica is not that hard to find.

However, what tastes good is a matter of opinion, so I’ll move this thread to IMHO.

I think Mc D’s claims to use 100% arabica and they make a decent cup around here.

Folgers? Maxwell House? Mc freakin’ D’s?
You guys are way outta my league here, so I’ll hold any further comments.
Careful, dave. That stuff [sub]at Mc D’s[/sub] is hot.
