One of the best/most useful items I’ve had is the Dannon Carb Control yogurt. I didn’t have it in induction but rightly or wrongly it was one of the first foods I added back, as a breakfast item. The cups are small, but since the yogurt contains some fat, it is more filling than fat-free Light yogurts. 4 flavors, vanilla’s the best IMHO.
I’ve also had the Blue Bunny brand of reduced carb yogurt, which was okay but not as nice to me as the Dannon (some people disagree). I’m always suspicious of the Atkins-brand products as, in my experience, they are more expensive and lower quality.
Do you live near a Kroger? Their line of Sugar-Free (and no-sugar added) frozen confections is the shizzle (same as the Popsicle brand, but much cheaper). I am especially fond of these pops – I can’t remember exactly what they’re called – they have an icepop exterior with a core of vanilla no-sugar-added icecream. The orange is just like a creamsicle. Only 20 cals and a small number of carbs from the milk in the ice cream (4 or 5 at the most) The only thing is, they contain some aspartame.
The Carb Options ice cream bars (sweetened w/ Splenda) are also really good for a treat, but a little $$. I’ve been known to buy them on sale and didn’t have any problems with weight loss while eating them in moderation (1 bar a couple times per week).
I’m not a big buyer of SF candy… I just don’t get enough “happy” for the $. That said I think Russel Stover’s SF mint patties are yummy (I don’t experience problems with sugar alchohols). I only buy them rarely though.
I’m also not a big fan of the bars… except in emergencies. I don’t find them filling/satisfying and they add a lot of calories (I am a small person and watch calories as well as carbs). Plus I feel that they are an obstacle to making healthy eating a habit (too much like having a candy bar). In emergencies I prefer GeniSoy Low-Carb Crunch in Chocolate Chip, AdvantEdge Carb Control in Chocolate Chip Brownie, Pria CarbSelect in Cookies & Caramel, and Powerbar Sugar Free Protein Power in Mocha something.
I apologize if my first post sounded snarky, it wasn’t clear from what you wrote that you were knowledgable about Atkins in particular (low carb can mean anything… The Zone, Sugarbusters, protein Power, etc… all reduced carb diets with different approaches). Good luck with your weight loss, I hope my post has been helpful.
To the person who claimed that rice and wheat don’t fit with Atkins even though they’re whole foods, that is not true. First of all, White rice and White flour are not whole foods – they’re processed to strip out the husk/germ. Secondly, during the “maintenance” phase (that is to say, when you’re done losing the weight you want to lose) brown rice and whole wheat flour (as well as other whole flours) are allowed in moderation.
