Low water pressure

Water pressure has been low in the house for about an hour and a half. I walked around the house and did not hear or see any leaking water. Temperature is 32ºF, but it hasn’t been there long. (It’s been in the mid-40s today.)

Any idea what the problem may be? The water district offices are closed, and they have no emergency number. I did leave VM and sent an email. I assume there is a system problem somewhere, and it’s not just my house. But I’ve no way of knowing. This is the first time this has happened.

Knock on some doors in the neighbourhood and see if they have the issue too.

What? Talk to neighbours? I’m from L.A.!

Actually, pressure seems to be back to normal. Or it was, shortly after I posted. The water is discoloured, though.

I’ll bet there was some hydrant flushing happening.

Or a hydrant in use.
Or a broken water main somewhere on his system.

Is it low everywhere in the house, or just from one specific faucet? When a mixing valve starts to go bad, it can look like low water pressure.

That would be my bet.

Turns out, someone crashed into a hydrant.
