Lubbock TX/ TX Tech University Information?

Good Afternoon,

After a long and thoughtful process I think I have decided to enter the PhD program in history at TTU. My decesion came down to three factors

  1. I am very interested in the work of faculty members and I had good email chats with them.
  2. The program produces good scholarship similar to what I want to do.
  3. Their recent graduates appear to have carreers that I would like to have.
    Mostly tenure track at smaller public univerisities in the south.

Can anyone tell me about living in Lubbock/ attending TTU? Is Lubbock a nice place to live? What is the community like? Does anyone have any experince TTU?

I am not looking for anything in particular, just general thoughts, observations, and cautionary tales.
