Lucifer and the Fall

Is the story of Lucifer’s Fall after an attempt to take over heaven a part of any religions teachings or does this story just come from literary sources?

This thread has a lot of good information in it on The Devil:

A large part of demonology has come from literary sources other than the accepted canon of major religions. I am thinking of such works as Milton’s Paradise Lost, which contains the whole story of Satan’s Rebellion and subsequent fall. Milton based his sources on largely three distinct theologies: Semitic, Hellenic, and JeudoChristian. However, if one scowers the Christian Bible there are both Old Testament and New Testament references to an angelic fall, (especially if one holds a preterist view of the book of Revelation). I am thinking largely of Isaiah 28, a prophesy against a King of Tyer. In the biblical training that I have had, I was taught that the Jews believed that the force behind the king was Satan himself. The words of the prophet that follow do not make sense applied to a human. Verse 14 states that the LORD said, “You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones.” The passage later discribes the expellation of the guardian cherub. I believe that this shows Satan being forced out of heaven, the angelic revolt maybe found in the book of Revelation, chapter 12 verses 7-9. “And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Preterists hold that this passage occured before the the Fall of Man.

That is all I can recall right now, I will follow up if you wish

also as far as the OP I can see there are only a few passages in the bible that comes close to your question.

Luke 10 :18

He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven

Revelation 12:9
The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

Revelation 20:10
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
guess the rest is myth and conjecture
