“In addition to engaging in fraud, deceit and trickery, this court finds the government’s tactics in this case are so grossly shocking and so outrageous as to violate the universal sense of justice,” she wrote in her ruling.
“As a result, this court is left with no choice but to dismiss the indictment.”
She accused officials of manipulating the evidence against Mr Carriles, namely by not telling him that what he thought was an immigration interview was actually a criminal interrogation.
Speaking after the ruling, US justice department spokesman Dean Boyd said: “We’re reviewing the decision.”

As with each and every defendant who comes before this Court, Defendant in this case is entitled to certain rights under the United States Constitution. This Court will not set aside such rights nor overlook Government misconduct because Defendant is a political hot potato. This Court’s concern is not politics; it is the preservation of criminal justice .

I know you’re not serious, but this was only a trial in the sense that it was called a trial. It was a show, and I am very surprised by that headline in the Washington post, it tries to give the proceeding a weight it really does not have.
