Oh yeah - I’d been at my job for less than a year when I got a phone call that my dad had had a stroke and was in the ICU. (I drive a desk, BTW.) I was crying and looking for a supervisor to tell I had to go home. Ran into the #2 guy who told me to be sure I used annual instead of sick leave.
Didn’t think much of it at the moment, but later played into the degree of consideration I figure I owe them.
