On a slightly different note, if I hear one more angst-ridden 30-year-old moan about how he’s numb, dumb, stupid, or (my personal non-favorite) jaded, I will hunt them down and personally introduce them to my Great-Big-Thesaurus-O’-Pain.
How ‘bout any song in which the singer is asking the frickin’ telephone operator why his “true love” isn’t answering the phone?
You’ve been ditched, buddy. Deal with it.
The most overused “lyric” is yeah. Using this word as a lyric line is embarrassing to begin with but the fact that it is used so much is reason enough for banning it. The second most overused “lyric” is la, as in la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la. Remember the Journey song when Steve sings la,la,… for about five minutes? Also, a baby is a young child. If this is the only word of affection you can think of then you need to get a job that does not require alot of creativity, such as the television industry.
IMHO, the most overused rhyme of all time:
"arms" and "charms"
Don’t they rhyme? I’m confused.
Your sig: shouldn’t you attribute it to Walt Kelly?
Cannot resist… cannot resist:
I’ll Be on My Way (Lennon, McCartney)
The sun is fading away
That’s the end of the day
As the June light turns to moonlight
I’ll be on my way
…
Actually, a charming song, written when they were teenagers. Simple and innocent - I like it!
I sit here all alone.
I tell myself I’ll get by on my own.
I try to tell myself,
I’ll find somebody else.
I’ll find someone new tomorrow,
Someone who’ll help me forget my sorrow.
But I know I can’t fake it,
Without you I’ll never make it.
(Hey, I could write for Bon Jovi!)
Actually, I’ve always loved that song, I too think it’s charming. Though I will admit that the “As the June light turns to moonlight” song always stood out to my ears.
I’m pretty sure every song in existence has included the rhyming of together with forever in some capacity either as “I want us to be together forever” or “I jsut want us to be togehter/ I want to hold your hand forever”
Don’t you know since you’ve been gone,
It’s so hard to carry on.
When you’re not here, I get so lonely.
Darling, you know I love you only.
How I long to feel your touch,
For I need you, oh so much.
Come on now, be my baby,
Make me happy, don’t say maybe.
Don’t you know in all the world,
You’re my one and only girl?
Girl, don’t put me on the shelf,
Don’t leave me all by myself.
All I want is for you to stay.
Don’t ever take your love away.
Look at me, I’m on my knees,
Begging you now, darling please.
I have loved you, oh so many years,
Don’t you leave me drowning in my tears.
If only I could hold your hand,
Then I’d make you understand.
