Lyricists: Born with it or learned?

So the topic came up awhile back about really good lyricists. My friend is a big Eminem fan and I happened to ask him “So do you think he was born with it or did he learn to write that good?”
My friend is convinced that he was born with it, and that no average Joe could ever learn to rhyme like that.

I definately don’t think he was born with it, and I do believe that just about anyone could learn to rhyme like that, I just don’t know how. I told him that I was sure that rhyming occupied most of Eminem’s thought time, especially when he was younger and learning. That was about the best explanation I could come up with.

What do you guys think? Born with it or learned? How did he learn? I know there are some really good lyricists on the boards (though not necessarily hip-hoppers), maybe some of you guys could shed some light on the subject?

Any intrest at all in this topic? I’ve seen tons of talented posters write songs on the fly pertaining to a specific thread, surely one of you wants to come forth and discuss your skill?
