Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) came with a utility called “Image Capture.app”, which is used to download images from digital cameras and the like. It does its job well.
The problem is, my Kodak All-In-One printer has a slot that accepts data cards from digital cameras, and as a result, Mac OS X seems to think I have a camera plugged into my Mac. So, if my printer is powered on, every single time I log into my Mac, or even switch users, this Image Capture utility comes popping up first thing upon login. If my printer is powered off, then turning it on to print something causes Image Capture to pop up. I would like this to stop.
Unfortunately, the Image Capture app has no Preference settings whatsoever - it’s just a simple utility that does one simple thing. Does anybody know any way to disable this thing? I can’t even simply delete it - trying to put it in the Trash results in an alert that says, “‘Image Capture.app’ can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X.”
