Macintosh questions

I recently got a Macintosh. I was a PC owner prior to this so I have some questions.

  1. Where do I go to learn Applescript?
  2. Where do I go to learn to use Terminal?
  3. Is my phone bill going to be expensive if I leave the Mac on all of the time. (Am I connected to the internet while the Mac sleeps)

For a dial-up connection to the internet, your Mac functions the same as your PC did - the connection will stay open (and your phone bill will go up) until you disconnect it, or your ISP logs you off. Sleep mode won’t close your internet connection for you.

If you’re familiar with Unix (or just want to be), the O’Reilly book Learning Unix for Mac OS X is a good one. Everything in it’s done through the Terminal.

I don’t know what kind of computer you have, but on my iBook, sleep will close out a dial-up internet connection.
