Mad Men opening credits

My entire Mad Men viewing has been via my laptop, except for one episode. What always bugged me has been the opening credits of Don’s silhouette sitting in the chair after falling through the air and the look of dandruff on his shoulders.

I saw an episode recently on HD TV and didn’t seem to see the dandruff look on the silhouette, but instead a uniform black (but I wasn’t looking for it either, just noticed it like a light bulb going off in my head after the credits ended). Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to rewind and rewatch the credits, so I’m wondering, do the opening credits show any white, dandruff like look when seen on TV? I’ve pondered over the past 2 years what the significance was to it, if what I’ve seen was intentional. Or is my computer picking up detail not seen via tv?

They do – I was just reflecting on that white shading when I watched the episode last night (on my non-HD tv). It must be intentional, to show highlighting, but why they went that route and not the flat black silhouette, I don’t know.
