Which magazine do you think is better? I, myself, like Cracked more than Mad.
Three words:
SPY VS. SPY
Or is that two words?
it is actually 10 words
It’s definetly MAD. Some would say that’s a slightly biased decision, seeing as I’ve never read cracked. However, if I’ve never seen a copy of the magazine I can safely assume that it’s not in very good circulation and therefore is of an inferior quality. Or that I don’t go looking for magazines much.
MAD. The artwork’s better, the jokes are more subtle & sophistacated (some of 'em, anyway), and it just looks better.
Mad, although it hasn’t been funny in, well… okay, I don’t recall ever seeing a really good gag in Mad.
However, I have heard Bob Saget voiceovers that were funnier than the most hilarious joke ever written in Cracked.

Hmm, a request for personal opinions? IMHO, here we come!

Is Crazy still around? That seemed harder-edged than either Cracked or Mad.
Cracked underwent some kind of change of ownership in the mid-80s, and the content and tone seemed to have been affected quite a bit. I haven’t read either magazine in the past decade, however, so what do I know.

Conversation over.
I just visited the Cracked site:
http://www.cracked.com/
and they said that they made alot of changes to the magazine recently. I’ve heard it is hilarious. I went to the MAD website and on there they were even talking about how funny it is.
I even found the new issue and it looks quite different but I’m not sure about the content.
I’ve read much of both and MAD is the best by far.
I used to have Spy vs. Spy on nintendo.
I gotta say Cracked…not that I’ve read it in 15 years…gotta love the “Dukes of Hazzardous” parody, nyuk nyuk. Didn’t Don Martin defect to Cracked anyway? That was the only edge Mad actually had.
MAD always was better than CRACKED. Usually the people who worked for CRACKED were those not good enough to make it with MAD. At best, it was a pale imitation.
I recently purchased the Totally Mad 7-cd CD-ROM set. It contains EVERY issue of MAD including the specials, some of the little plastic records, stickers, etc (up through Dec. 98). I got it on sale for $50. In it you’ll find (as listed in the owner’s manual):
376 issues of MAD
133 MAD special issues
12 worst from the MAD annuals
12 more trash from the MAD annuals
7 MAD follies
5 Tales Calculated to Drive You MAD
9 other specials
Spy vs. Spy cartoons (some are animated!)
Clips from the flexi-discs
Interviews with the MAD gang
It’s the best entertainment $50 I’ve spent in a long time. You can even print your favorite gag.
I used to buy Cracked. Like the MAD TV vs. SNL thread, each has/had its moments. Crazy was bit weirder.
Mad. Funnier jokes, better art. Spy vs. Spy and The Lighter Side. Sergio Aragones.
