Madam, I simply must protest!

From the Polling without commentary thread, in reference to the Bullshit modding thread:

Well, ok. I’ll just take you at your word that the situation is as resolved as it’s going to be.
Warning #1: You don’t have a brain in your head, Tuba, if you think the situation was even resolved, let alone resolved acceptably. It was not – your insipid announcement addressed nothing of any weight, except that you’d be letting the Warnings stand… and your reasoning for that showed gross ignorance of what had been said up to that point. What, tl/dr?

Yeah… I’m really sure that you’ll be allowed to hack the vB code to allow comment-less polls… and I’m just as certain that they’d be a great big hit.

You keep trying to bullshit Dopers, Tuba. It keeps not working. Sure, there are some roll-over-and-take-a-Tubadick-up-the-ass types here, but most people have learned not to trust a word you say. It took me a while, but here we are at last.
Warning #2: Czarcasm is worthless as a Mod. You can hide him away in IMHO, but the embarassment he causes the board still seeps through to poison everything it touches. Many, many options were available to him–including not creating the problem in the first place–but he chose to do the most hurtful, heavy-handed, unreasonable things he could. Afterward, he hijacks every thread about it with his whining about how unworkable any other solution might be. I won’t even address that bottom-feeder directly.
Warning #3: Every other Mod on this board–it doesn’t matter what point-of-view you presented in the Mod Loop on this issue–you are dirty by association. You let people get ground up in the machinery of the conflicting, on-the-fly rule-making and the neverending ass-covering.

The lot of you seem more concerned with making sure that nobody slipped one past you than with doing the right thing. Many of you are against Zero-tolerance policies. Many of you believe that it’s better to let some guilty go free than to convict even one innocent person. But when the stakes are your own authority–or how you might look to the other Mods–you show that you lack the courage of your high-minded convictions.

I’m sure that most of you are plenty smart, but congratulations on that other thing–you’re also corrupt. You’ve let the few truly bad Mods make you dirty. Now, you’re assholes like them. And a dirty asshole-by-association is still just a dirty asshole.

So…no Christmas card this year?

Good luck – you’re gonna need it.

I tend to agree on point 1. I can’t remember a single time that TubaDiva weighed in a controversy, and I thought, “Hey, that was well-thought through. Glad we got resolution there.” Instead, everyone always seems more pissed-off afterwards. I have no expectation this time will be different.

I’m not sure I agree on point 2. I think Czarcasm clearly erred in this case, and opinion on that is as close to unanimous as things get around here. But I have non-specific recollections of seeing him moderate quite well in the past, too.

Point 3 is just silly. Disagreeing and committing is a reasonable way to run an organization, and mods aren’t required to air their dirty laundry for your amusement. Also, making this point takes away from points 1 and 2, as it makes you seem bitter and not particularly rational. But

Seconded.

Yeah, he’ll need all the luck in the world to survive a gasp MODERATOR WARNING and possibly a THREAD CLOSURE.

How will you ever make it, SoulFrost??

That said, well said. Uhh… except all the bad words and criticizing of the administration here…

Bitter? I wasn’t one of the ones Warned. Disagreeing while committing has its time and place, but not when people are being ridden over roughshod. I’d never commit to that–anyone who would is an asshole.

Some people may have this crazy idea that a moderator warning on a message board is pretty low-stakes stuff, and voiced their opinion in private, then let go when the decision went the other way. I just can’t get worked up about that. YMMV.
