Damn, brewha, that didn’t take much time to change your mind (13 minutes)?
Count me in if there’s space.

w00T! I see some old friends in here! Sweeeet!
We sometimes play a little rough, but new players are definitely welcome. Expect some scrutiny as everyone tries to get a handle on your style.
And, remember, don’t take things personally when someone calls you a lying scum.
Edit: Oh, forgot to say: count me in.
Heh. I’m in customer service. I am master of not taking it personally. And I’ve seen some of the…newb issues that occurred in You-Solve-It, so at least my mistakes will be different! I am so freakin excited!
In please
Oh my, there’s now a games forum? My life has settled somewhat, so I should be able to play in a mafia game again, assuming it remains relatively small. Of course, my participation will still be a lower than it was previously, but I’ve missed playing. So… sign me up if there’s room.
This will be a playtest round, so I am not sure on timeframe. There are a large number of special roles in this game, including a Vigilante, and the body count could be large or small depending on player decisions.
I plan to take a few days for role discussion and tweaks. I haven’t decided on the number of players and am crunching some numbers on that today. I’d like to take as many people who want to play as is feasible while maintaining the game, but the rules are flexible enough to allow a smaller game if necessary.
I’m definitely interested, but I’ve never played or even lurked before, and would need to see the rules.
With my current game looking over, the addiction must be fed. I’m in.
Okay, I’m confirming, especially since our good fluiddruid has already got me on the player’s list.
HazelNutCoffee: Yes, I’ve watched some of the other games, and I was part of one mafia game for… oooh, let’s say 20 minutes. In 1976 or so.
We shan’t speak of that further.
Rules are up now. Please read them over and ask any questions. They may be tweaked before the game begins.
Wow. This game looks ripe with opportunities for mob lynches and paranoia. Awesome!
If there are still some spots left, please count me in!!
Fluiddruid, I’d like to play, but please could I check two things:
I’m posting from the UK, so there will be possible time zone issues (I managed fine in a previous Mafia game, but just want to check with you)
if one move in the game takes a week, isn’t this game going to last a looooong time?
I doubt this would be a problem since each Day/Night is a full week. As long as you think you can manage, I have no problem.
Possibly - though it really depends on what happens early in the game. If the Vigilante or Boss aren’t checked early on, I can see the game moving pretty quickly. I wanted to keep in on a week schedule to reduce confusion about when the day or night end, and to make sure I can be available to promptly handle dawn and dusk.
fluiddruid, some comments on the rules:
Thank you for using the fixed Day/Night schedule. I really think it’s the best way to manage turns.
I don’t like randomness in powers, but I know I’m a minority on this. Randomness makes it much harder to balance the game–the difference in effect between a power working and not working is substantial. It also makes it harder for power roles–they can’t even rely on their own information or abilities.
Why do you start in the Day? The first lynch has two results: either game over or kill a Townie. Little information will be gained about scum, because there’s only one. Instead, wouldn’t it make sense to start at Night and require the Boss to recruit? That way, no one gets killed immediately, and the first Day’s discussion will be based on more than nothing.
Is there an option for No Lynch? What if no one votes at all? If you do start in the Day, shouldn’t the best play for the Town be to not lynch?
I’ve never played before, looks interesting. Sign me up.
Yes, No Lynch is allowed. If this is the highest vote, no lynch will occur. If it is tied with a person, lynching the person will automatically win (no lynch cannot win in a tie).
I’d like to try the randomness this time. It’s hard to balance a recruitment game, so this is intended as a playtest. Based on this game, I plan to rerun it again later with the rules tweaked.
In regards to Day or Night - an awful lot happens at Night, with detection powers, Vig kills and so on. Do you all think it would be better to start with the Boss allowed a recruit but no other powers during the first Night? (I also wanted to slow down recruitment a little and give the Boss some information before starting a potentially risky recruitment.) And, the chances for a Boss lynch are very small on the first Day. I’d be interested to hear more discussion on this, though.
I’d like to hop in!
Looks good to me. I assume you have our email addresses?

Yeah, I’m in.
