Old School Mafia Reunion (newer players welcome too)

So I recently got together with a ton of old school mafia players on my Facebook, where we all reminiced about the games we used to play. We talked, also, about getting together for another game, someday, after all these months and years…even though some haven’t played a game of it for many months and years, in fact.
In my mind, there exists three groups of players of Mafia: Old school (of which I am a member of, as is anyone who started playing mafia before, say, 2007), a second generation (middle school…anyone who started between 2007 and around 2012), and then a NEW school/generation, for those who started after 2013.

But all players are awesome and I’ve played with a great, great many players over the years…so I was thinking: Why not get together for one more game? At least one more. I don’t care who hosts it. I’ll host it if needed/wanted…although if someone else wants to host, that’s fine, that way I could play in it (and claim on Day One in BIG TEXT.

This is just a thread to start talking about it. Why not set a NEW YEARS RESOLUTION for yourself, all former mafia players, to play in at least one more game—the biggest and most spectacular game of mafia so far—on here sometime, say, in January? That gives everyone a month and a half for us to all talk about who will host, what kind of theme it will be, and of course allow players to sign up over the entire course of December.

And let’s get everyone in here…everyone who has ever played mafia. As many as we can, from Flyingcowofdoom to storyteller, from Blaster Master to Kyrie Eleison, from colby11 to gnarlycharlie, from Lightfoot to BillMc, from Biotop to Raventhief, from Prof. Pepperwinkle to Hookerchemical.
And everyone in between as well.

I’m going to link this thread to as many former mafia players as I can and see how many show up. I hope they all do…
Save for three, who I hope we could dedicate the game to: The loving memories of Auto, Peeker, and Santo Rugger.

No, haha. If I hosted it (although there are far better hosters than I), it would definitely NOT be like the last one I hosted was.

But I kinda hope someone else who makes much better games will step up and volunteer to host…like Blaster, storyteller, Pleonast, or a team of Kat/NAF.

Caveat the 2nd, I can do none of the detailed analysis at all. Just lots of finger pointing and bandwagoning.

I have actually never played on here before (I know, gasps all around). But, I’ve been on Giraffe for a long time, so I figure alot of players here know me.

If we don’t have any other ideas I’m happy to rerun one of my old games (was thinking M2). But I can’t even remember how to properly balance a game.

One of the best games I ever played in was the Firefly mafia that you and Kat both double hosted.

I’m fine with you and her (or just you) doing one, although my TOP pick would have to be Pleonast (sorry, NAF), because of his Conspiracy series, which was great. Storyteller also ranks just a bit above you, as host…but you’re a solid third, NAF.
Best game I EVER played in, period, though…was the Cult of Sekham, hosted by Blaster Master. He’s in my top five best mafia hosts as well.

Fifth might be…hmmm…that’s a toughie.

Okay, so I sent out a SHIT ton of PMs on here, on GB, and on FB. I think I mostly covered at least 80 people who used to play mafia or still do.

Let’s see how many, if any, show up in this thread and how many would be interested in a game. : p

Just talking about old times and remembering past moments is fine too.
I wish like hell Malacandra could play.

Seekham was SO GOOD! Crap that would be great to rerun. My favorite of my games was Firefly too, but I would not feel comfortable digging that back up on my own without Kat’s blessing.

I’m happy to not run the game too. Story was my favorite game designer (conspiracy wasn’t for me). I am just saying I’m happy to throw myself on the sword of not playing. I’m by no means jonesing to run a new game.

Thanks for putting this together Idle. I’m no longer crazy busy and up for a game. I have a half written Mistborn/Cosmere (Brandon Sanderson’s universe of awesomeness) themed Mafia game that I could attempt to finish to run (probably with some help) if need be.
