MAGA-hat kid hires fancy lawyer

From what I read, the protest was a component of an outing which also involved doing some Capital tourism. It may have been the primary component, but the kids were also there to see stuff.

(post shortened)

And you’d be wrong. The least I could do would be to accept the lame stream media’s rush to be first to report a story regardless of it’s accuracy, as opposed to demanding that they properly/correctly/factually reporting a story the first time.

It’s amazing the number of people who are willing to advocate for poor reporting. We don’t care if a news story is biased, false, or spun as long as the bias, untruths, or spin is in our favor.

If you enjoy watching improvisational dance, ask doorhinge to list his trusted, non-lamestream media sources. Two left feet, but he puts on a hell of a show.

I remember Sandmann mentioning sight seeing and buying those MAGA hats from a booth.

I must have zoned out when abortion protests were mentioned. Maybe a bathroom break.

I’m not defending poor reporting. I’m criticizing your use of a stupid term to get your point across. It’s like the jerks who use the term “Democrat Party” as an insult. It really prevents any rational consideration of their position. In this thread, whatever point you are tying to make about “poor reporting” is hopelessly lost by your insistence on using a stupid term. I’m sure you can see that.

I know, right?

And speaking of shock theater, I was honestly stumped at how to respond to his bizarre accusation that I’m paid to write my posts. Virtually every way I can think of to respond to this would end up being the kind of insult or accusation I don’t think is permitted outside the pit.

Held responsible, or held financially responsible? One twit had their twitter account suspended by twitter. Holding social media more financially responsible could require creating, or enhancing, current libel, and slander, laws. Issuing a $10K judgment against the Guamanian Kaya Taitano would be a good start. Assholes could still say what they wish, but their victims should be entitled to compensation, and an apology.

I’m on board with that idea. A reasonable fine sounds very good for violations of the TOS.

They can still say what they want on social media.

Why should we take you word on anything based on your posts in this thread?

Is there a non-Guamanian person of the same name with whom you wish to avoid confusion? Or is there some other reason that compels you to keep referring to her ethnicity/place of origin?

Because I understand the incident? I’ve wasted too much time listening to news about this incident already.

It was a school trip during MLK weekend. I assumed it’s purpose based on a life times experience.

The purpose of the trip isn’t relevant to what happened. That’s why it wasn’t reported more prominently.

I consider it worse to accost a random group of students minding their own business than to accost a group of people who are explicitly there as a hatemongering and apparently racist protest. (The “apparently racist” part comes from the MAGA business, which is widely regarded as a racist codeword.)

Not that accosting is great in any regard, but it’s the difference between targeting combatants and noncombatants.

Do you know exactly who I am referring to when I post, “Guamanian Kaya Taitano”? If you are, I can see no reason for your whining? Are you suggesting that you are now the arbitrator of what can, and can not, be posted on this website? Maybe you’re confusing this site with your own website? Do you have a website? Maybe you’re overly concerned with my developing carpal tunnel syndrome. If that’s the reason, then I thank you for your concern.

You didn’t answer the question.

Just don’t get it wrong, or you might owe her $10,000.

I went to a Catholic school, (K-8) and for what it’s worth, our parish allowed the 8th graders to go along on its trip to the March for Life, if we wanted to.

I didn’t go, but some of my friends did – mostly just to get out of class. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case with a good many kids from various Catholic schools. (Most of them, in fact)

Yes, I did. I wanted you to know exactly who I was referring to. Maybe you’re still confused?

Do you think I slandered/libeled her by identifying her as a Guamanian?

Actually you forgot to say this in your instantly-on-the-defensive-attack response, but whichever. You sort of implied it, kind of, but honestly your reaction was so instantly-on-the-defensive-attack-y that it makes one, well, suspicious.

But don’t worry, we don’t expect you to give any other explanation than that you were worried we might be confused about which Kaya Taitano you were referring to. Each time. Definitely might be a different Kaya Taitano the third time. Absolutely something we need to be clear about.

Fortunately, he doesn’t need to. We know as well as he does why he’s doing it, even if we aren’t at liberty in this thread to call it what it is.
