My neice is graduating jr. high in a few weeks. I’d like to get her a magazine subscription. She’s got enough fashion and beauty in her life, so Seventeen and Tigerbeat (do they still publish that?) and all that sort of thing really aren’t what I’m looking for. She’s bright and is an avid reader. I’m looking for more of a “Life” magazine type of thing for young people. Is there such an animal?
Here’s a list of teenage mags I found through google. “Cicada” especially looks pretty good; I may have to pick that one up for my daughter!
Oooooh! Thank you for that list! Cicada looks good, and I also have my eye on Teen Ink http://www.magazines.com/ncom/mag?id=3785389180163&mid=0000009940.
New Moon looks interesting.
I don’t think Tigerbeat is published anymore. What a shame. I guess the mocking of this mag will always exist in our teen age hearts and memories.
It’s the end of the world.
Jesus! It’s worse than I remembered! No neice of mine is getting a year’s worth of that abomination for free.
It is good. I got a few issues for a young friend last summer. I actually went to the local public library and checked out their archive to see if it really was worth the $. It was awesome, all written and illustrated by and for young ladies. Since they sent me a free teacher/librarian pack, I feel the need to pimp them as often as possible!
